Status:                  Temporary Summer   

Shift:                      Monday to Friday

Hours:                   5.0 Hour/Day – 6 weeks

We have an opening for a Summer Intern in our Digital, Enterprise and IT Departments.

The intern position at Hemlock Printers will consist of project work in several departments including Prepress, Digital Printing, Enterprise Customer Support and IT. The projects will be varied, and while there are few required technical skills, an ideal candidate will be a self-starter and have an analytical mindset.

PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS

Digital Imposition Update Project:

Assist the Digital printing and Prepress department with reorganizing and updating the current library of templets, streamlining the workflow. Will be working with PREPS 8 and Prinergy Workshop.

Corporate Customer List Creation:

Assist the enterprise department in aggregating and validating customer data from multiple sources and locations into a single, centralized customer database. Source data locations will include ERP systems, Outlook, Excel spreadsheets, production printing systems and will be validated against current storefront information.

Asset Tagging Project:

Assist the IT department in physically tagging computer and technology assets with a physical labels, and updating the technology database with the asset number. Inform the IT department if an asset is missing from the database and create an entry.

Printer Catalog Project:

Locate and enter all desktop printer devices into the IT asset database, ensuring to catalog attributes such as location, make, model, serial number, toner model and so on. As well, create a document for tracking printer toner inventory.

Active Directory Update Project:

Assist the IT department in reorganizing and updating the corporate active directory, including streamlining users, groups, computers, and policies.

Skills & Qualifications:

An ideal candidate will have:

Technical Skills:      

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook and Excel
  • Experience working with Prinergy Workshop, Preps, Apple computers, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop (asset)
  • Experience in active directory (asset)
  • General understanding of ERP systems (asset)
  • General understanding of IT asset management software such as IT Glue (asset)
