My name is John Paulo Santiago, I’m a student taking Graphic Communications and Print Technology at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary. I sincerely appreciate your choosing me as one of the scholarship recipients. This really means a lot to me. This encouraged me to work harder and feel supported.
Print Industry as well as Graphic Communications are not just about the “technicality” or classroom-based programs but there’s a lot to it that you can learn. What I like about these programs is that it develops your interpersonal skill which is very important in surviving the fast-paced changing world.
I have also never thought that I have the skills in designing in which working with my hands does wonders for my brain. GCPT in SAIT is very diverse since you’ll have a chance to experience the best of two worlds. From the tasks given to you to thinking outside the box and becoming creative as you can(designing), and making that wild imagination come to life(printing), it’s a process of continuous self-development.
Sometimes, graphic designers and professionals in the print industry are the silent influencers in society. Creative people don’t just follow the crowd, they make their statements and inspire and find inspiration in everyday objects or even themselves or others. Hopefully, one day I can influence or change someone’s life because of my talent and creativity. I know, I still have a long journey ahead of me but with people out there like the donors and people behind Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship who recognized my talent, making me strive and do more.
