Student Focus: Miguel Castro
“Hello! My name is Miguel Castro and I am currently enrolled at Toronto Metropolitan University in their Graphic Communications Management program, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in technology. I am very honoured to be a recipient of the Canadian Printing Industry Scholarship along with many of my peers.
Growing up, I never quite knew what I wanted to pursue as a career. Being a first generation immigrant, my parent’s wishes in regards to my career were very different from my own. In my third year of high school, I joined my school’s yearbook team and from there I was introduced to the world of graphic design and printing. I had my first experience of working in the printing industry and from there I knew it was something I wanted to do in the future.
Being enrolled in the GCM program here at TMU has opened my eyes to all things print and has reassured me that this is the path I want to take.
Thank you again to the CPISTF funders for giving students like me the opportunity to branch out of the traditional system and have a chance at pursuing their aspirations.”
